Growth gap in Middle Georgia
Is Macon-Bibb growing? Explore the latest population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau.
Macon’s neighbors are growing. The U.S. Census Bureau released its 2025 population estimates in March, completing a three-year picture of regional growth. Monroe County grew nearly 5% between 2023 and 2025, and Houston County grew nearly 4%. Bibb and Jones counties each grew by less than 1% — fewer than 900 combined new residents over the same period. Population figures are Census Bureau estimates as of July 1 of each year.
