UPDATED High school football scoreboard: ACE, Howard lose heartbreakers in region play
The Patriots won 30-29 over the Royals in stunning fashion to highlight the first night of high school football in Macon for Week 4.

Week 4 of high school football for Macon got off to a roaring start Thursday evening, as the Southwest Patriots snagged their first win of the year in dazzling fashion. The Patriots scored a touchdown in the final minute before converting a two-point try to shock powerhouse Bleckley County, 30-29.
The win, which came on the Royals’ homecoming night, pulled Southwest out of an 0-3 rut and gave them a much-needed region victory. Bleckley County falls to 2-2 after the loss, which is its second close defeat of the year after a 19-16 game against Dodge County in Week 2.
Northeast, Central and Westside rounded out the Bibb County Thursday slate. Though all three games saw lopsided final scores, the Raiders were the only team to come out on top.
The ACE Gryphons played a great game against undefeated region foe Dodge County but failed to pull out the late win, falling 33-28 after a late fourth-and-goal play for the lead ended in an incompletion.
