Local Knowledge: It’s time to meet your match
Try your hand at these matching challenges in this week’s Local Knowledge by Ed Grisamore.
I’m showing my age here, but I fondly remember watching some of the great game shows of the 1960s and ‘70s. They were entertaining and educational.
There was “Hollywood Squares,’’ “Password,’’ “Let’s Make a Deal,’’ “The Dating Game,’’ “The Newlywed Game,” ”To Tell the Truth’’ and “What’s My Line?”
A few are still around, like “Family Feud,’’ “Wheel of Fortune,’’ “The Newlywed Game’’ and “Jeopardy!” They have built large and loyal audiences over the years.
When I was in the third grade, my family went on a trip to New York. We took a tour of NBC at the Rockefeller Center and had tickets to be in the studio audience for an episode of “Concentration.’’ Hugh Downs was the host.
There was also a show called the “Match Game.’’ Several reincarnations have resurfaced over the years. In fact, ABC brought it back in July, with comedian Martin Short as the host.
Local Knowledge may not be a game show but it is doing some “matchmaking” this week.
