The Cirrus Academy governing board met virtually Tuesday afternoon to approve the 2026 budget, organizational structure and salaries. The budget also included earmarks for a concrete basketball court, a sensory room and equipment for a morning podcast.
The 34,000-square-foot building off Hazel Street is the first of its kind in Georgia, composed of a crisis stabilization center and outpatient clinic, and can house up to 16 patients.
At its May 15 meeting, the Bibb County Board of Education accepted a $998,277 grant from the state for the renovation and operation of the school-based health center.
The Promise Scholarship has received 732 applications from Bibb County Schools students, about 3.5% of the district’s student population, according to a Georgia Student Finance Commission spokesperson.
The budget will have the district operating at a $20.8 million deficit, and included a 3% raise for teachers, a decreased number of vacant jobs and a new classified salary schedule.
