Fourth of July celebrations in Macon, Middle Georgia

Check out all the activities and events to celebrate Fourth of July weekend in Middle Georgia.

The sky will light up with bursts of vibrant fireworks in Macon next Friday for the Fourth of July. Community members can grab their sparklers and cookout gear to celebrate in a variety of ways throughout the area. All county government offices will be closed for the holiday.

Here’s a list of local events and
celebrations:

Macon Bacon firework night

Luther Williams Field,
Willie Smokie Glover Drive at
Carolyn Crayton Park, 7 p.m.

More than just baseballs will fly through the sky at Luther William Field for its “America’s Celebration Fireworks” theme night Friday, July 4 at 7 p.m. at Luther William Field, 225 Willie Smokie Glover Dr. Purchase tickets online.

Sparks Over the Park 

Lake Tobesofkee, 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Families can head to Lake Tobesofkee for the 28th annual independence day celebration. The Rescue Dogs will perform live music that day from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Sandy Beach Park. Fireworks will begin later that evening at 9:15 p.m. Admission is $3.

Fireworks at the fairgrounds

Macon County Fairgrounds Park,
9 p.m.

The Macon Area Chamber of Commerce and city of Macon will host a fireworks show.

Ingleside neighborhood parade

This neighborhood parade is returning for its fourth year. The parade is open to the whole community and runs from the 200 block of Riverdale Drive through Overlook Drive, Belvedere Drive, then Ridge Road and up Albermarle Place. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and the streets will be  blocked off.

Afterwards, attendees can grab some refreshing watermelon and some boiled peanuts then jam out to karaoke. Prizes will be awarded for best decorated house, golf cart, bicycle and outfit

“I’m most looking forward to just everybody getting together and having a good time,” said Dr. Edward Clark, a pediatrician who has lived in the neighborhood for 30 years and will drive four vintage tractors in the parade.

Hotdog Happy Hour

Fall Line Brewing Co., 567 Plum Street, Noon to 5 p.m.

Every pint of beer purchased at Fall Line comes with a free hot dog in celebration of the Fourth of July. 

Paddle on the Ocmulgee

Ocmulgee Boat Ramp near Georgia Power,
9260 Jackson Lake Road, 10 a.m.

Ocmulgee Outdoor Expeditions is giving Maconites the opportunity to paddle through a 4-mile section of the Seven
Islands.

If you’re interested in events throughout Middle Georgia, here’s a list of celebrations taking place outside of Macon. Events are set for July 4 unless otherwise noted.

Milledgeville

The City of Milledgeville will host a fireworks show from 9-10 p.m. at Central Georgia Technical College, where attendees can enjoy the show from Walter B. Williams Park or the board of education parking lot.

Earlier in the day, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church will perform a Fourth of July Organ Concert from 1-3 p.m.

Warner Robins

Saturday, June, 28, 6-11 p.m.

The 42nd Annual Independence Day Celebration in Warner Robins will feature a free show starring Sheila E., a Taylor Swift tribute band and an appearance by artist Rehab. Folks can also look forward to food and fireworks. 

Juliette

Jarrell Plantation’s Ol’ Time Fourth of July Celebration includes a reading of the Declaration of Independence and live performances of patriotic and bluegrass music. The day of festivities runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and will also feature blacksmithing demonstrations, sack races, farm skill relays and other carnival games. 

Centervillle

Friday, June 27, 6 a.m.-10 p.m.

Center Park will be filled with food trucks, live music, yard games and a fireworks show for the Fourth of July.
