Macon’s annual Witches Float fundraiser is set to return next month after being canceled last year due to Hurricane Helene.

Attendees will don their witch’s hats, brooms and flotation devices Oct. 5 and embark on a wickedly fun journey down the Ocmulgee River. The fundraiser supports Macon Periods Easier, a nonprofit organization that educates the community about period poverty — the inability to afford menstrual hygiene products — and provides those products and other resources to those in need.

Visit Macon and Ocmulgee Outdoor Expeditions will host the event. Participants can bring their own floaties or rent inflatables, canoes or kayaks. The best-dressed “witch” wins a $100 gift card — and all attendees are encouraged to decorate their watercrafts.

Attendees can also bring menstrual products, which will be donated to those in need. Those who gift such items will be entered to win “spell-binding prizes,” including a free paddle excursion.

The event begins at Amerson River Park, and several guides will be in attendance to help participants. Attendees can check in beginning at 2 p.m. at the park’s Porter Pavillion.
